Rooting allows android users to access subsystem of your Android Phone and work it in as same way as with internal storage and sd card.Rooting is same like Jailbreaking in Iphone.

Superuser(root user) have unlimited access to the files and folder and the root user can perform any task which he wanted to do.In simple words rooting is access to the android phone without any restrictions.

Rooting is term used to tell the process of gaining root access(superuser) or privileged control over devices, most commonly we use smartphones and tablets for rooting. (Android).
Rooting can also be done on Linux based devices.You can root almost ant mobile phone like Samsung,Huawei,LG,Oneplus,etc.Rooting makes the normal user to have administrative level access to the android smartphone.Rooting android phone will void the mobile warranty.Doing rooting you can increase your virtual ram  with sd card, it may help your device to work well if the ram of your phone is low but now a days almost all mobile phones come with a good ram and specs but there is more functionality is available, it is just example of rooting.
